Running Record Stars

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 29, 2026

Running Record Stars collects no data. No accounts, no student names, no reading history, no analytics, no advertising. Nothing you enter leaves your device, and nothing is stored after you start a new reading.

This policy explains what that means in detail. It applies to the Running Record Stars iPhone and iPad app, published by LuminaKids.

Information we do not collect

The app has no sign-in, no account, and no user profile. It never asks for a name, an email address, a school, or any identifier — not for you, and not for the student you are assessing.

Specifically, the app does not collect:

What happens to what you type

The reading time, word count, errors, and self-corrections you enter exist only in the app's memory while a session is open. They are used to calculate the results shown on screen and nothing else. When you tap Clear or New reading, or close the app, those values are gone. The app keeps no history and writes no records to disk.

The single setting the app remembers between launches is whether you have the alarm sound switched on or off. That preference is stored on your device and is never transmitted.

No network connection

The app makes no network requests. It does not contact our servers — we do not operate any for this app — and it contains no third-party software development kits, analytics libraries, or advertising networks.

Notifications

The app can send you one kind of notification: an alert when a countdown you started finishes while the app is in the background. iOS will ask your permission the first time. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. Declining permission does not affect any other feature.

Children's privacy

Running Record Stars is a professional tool for teachers and reading specialists. It is not directed to children and is not intended for use by children.

Because the app collects no information about students, no student data is created, transmitted, or retained. It falls outside the scope of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Any notes a teacher keeps about a student are recorded on their own forms, in their own systems, and are governed by their school or district's policies rather than by this app.

Purchases

Running Record Stars is sold through the Apple App Store. Apple handles the transaction and any payment information; we never see it. Apple's own privacy policy governs that process.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a future version of the app ever begins collecting information, we will say so clearly here and in the App Store privacy labels before that version ships.
